University of Southern Mississippi Mascot

Southern Mississippi University is located in Mid-Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The university is often referred to as South Miss Golden Eagles. Golden Eagles is the current mascot and nickname of the university, but this was not always the case.

Founded in 1910, the school has a history of many nicknames in its rich history. The first nickname was the Tiger. The Tigers common nickname in the southern United States, where adjoining schools are located in Auburn (Alabama) and LSU (Louisiana), is also the common nickname and mascot of the Tigers.

Following the Initial Tigers Nickname The Southern Mississippi University changed to the unique nickname Normalites (originated from the University's early name – Mississippi Normal College). From there the nickname changed several times as the school was represented by yellow coats, confessions and southerns. In 1972, an alumni / student vote was selected to name the Golden Eagles used to date.

Students and teachers of the university went so far that the golden eagle mask was a good first and forename. It is not uncommon for colleges to give mascots their names, such as the University of Florida, Albert the Alligator, and the Michigan State Spartan Spartan Mascot. For the Mississippi, the full name of their kabbalah is Seymour d & # 39; Campus. The Seymour d Campaign is a wordplay that needs to be interpreted as "read more about the campus". The modern name was praised by the 1984 World Masculine Mask, similarly to Seymour d & # 39; Fair. The Southern Mississippi inventive students and faculty have adapted the name of the World Exposition to meet their own agenda.

Not surprisingly, Seymour takes part in South Mississippi's sports events throughout the year and is often present at university and community events. In addition to public appearances, Seymour's Golden Eagle is often involved in television promotions for local businesses. Over the past ten years, Seymour has competed in a number of national mascot races designed to select America's favorite dormitory mascots. In the first ten years of the twenty-first century, Golden Eagle has performed in the first twenty games, and even occasionally in the top ten, with the best performer in the UCA Mascot National Competition of 2002.

The most famous athlete, Seymour is thrilled by Golden Eagle, Green Bay Packers and the current Minnesota Viking Brett Favre long quiz.
