Founded in 1921, Leicester University is the highest-ranking British university with a strong international reputation in research and teaching. Today, the university has 20,000 students, nearly 10,000 full-time students and more than 6,000 students who study international courses through distance learning.

"University of the Year" was the 2005 and 2006 Times Higher Education Supplement. Sunday Times also chose University in 2007.
